I had the opportunity to learn to windsurf last Saturday morning. No not at the Dalles where the wind speeds are as high as the adjacent interstate 84 automobile speeds but at a local lake with steady 10-20 mph winds. I consider the morning a success because I spent more time on the board than in the water (unlike an attempt last year) and I actually was able to return to my starting position rather than have to flag down a boat to get me back to shore.
Now, make no mistake about this, I was really just putting along with nothing fancy going on and I'm pretty sure I looked awkward and clutsy but at almost age 50 I'm really happy I live in a place where these things are possible. I got some good exercise, learned a new skill and spent time with a friend. I also learned where the ibuprofen is located in our house. Hope you're getting out and enjoying our summer weather too.
