Poll:
Do you think Mark Few will be at Gonzaga next season?

The minute Gonzaga is ousted from the NCAA Tournament, the question rears its ugly head. It's the same routine every offseason. Will Mark Few stay at Gonzaga or will he leave for another job?

The question actually carries more weight this year than in years past, because Few's "dream job" is wide open after the University of Oregon fired Ernie Kent.

It's always been assumed (but never confirmed) that Few would love to coach the Ducks. Few was born and raised in Creswell, Oregon (just 16 minutes outside of Eugene), he graduate from the university in 1987, and that's still where he has friends and family.

The question still remains...will he stay or will he go? Here are my thoughts...

A lot will be determined over the next few days. Leon Rice is a finalist for the head coaching at Boise State University. Why is that important? Rice is in line to take over at Gonzaga if Few leaves for another job. If Rice ends up going to coach the Broncos, then don't expect Few to go anywhere. Rice would much rather be at Gonzaga than at Boise State and if he leaves that means he realizes he won't become head coach at GU anytime soon.

It seemed like Few might be ready to make the move right off the bat. On top of Rice investigating other opportunities, assistant coach Ray Giacoletti appeared to be heading out of town as well (when every assistant is looking to secure another job...that usually means the head coach is ditching town). Giacoletti made it known that he was "very interested" in the Hawaii head coaching job. I don't know if he turned it down or what, but the job went to former USC assistant Gib Arnold. If Giacoletti walked away from the Warriors, then it could be a sign that he is ready for another run with Few at Gonzaga.

In an article by Seattle Times writer Bud Withers, an unnamed source close to Few said that Mark doesn't "feel quite as appreciated as he did three or four years ago." The source continued on to say that Few believes expectations at Gonzaga have become unrealistic. At the same time, the source mentioned that Few probably doesn't want to put in the time and effort (with boosters, etc.) to start over at a new program.

Oregon appears to have it's wish list down to three people: Few, Pittsburgh's Jamie Dixon, and Florida's Billy Donovan. I don't see any of those guys taking the job (unless Phil Knight starts throwing fistfuls of cash and Nike apparel at them...which is very possible).

With that said, I think Few will be back at Gonzaga next season. We'll see how everything shakes out over the next few weeks.

What do you think?
