30 second game guide
Bring’em Out: Lewis-Clark State College (7-2 NAIA) vs. Gonzaga Bulldogs (4-5) at the McCarthey Athletic Center at 6p.m. on FSN.
Watch for: Gonzaga to get a much-needed break from its tumultuous schedule. No doubt Mark Few and the powers-that-be wanted to plug-in an automatic victory amidst the gauntlet of Top-25 teams just in case the Zags were struggling…and they are. Nothing gets a team’s confidence back like a win, even if it comes against an NAIA team. The Warriors couldn’t come to the Kennel at a better time to snap a three-game Bulldog skid.
Fear: Another let down? No. Not really much to fear in this one besides an injury to GU. This will be a perfect opportunity for the coaching staff to reevaluate the team and possibly plug guys into other spots to test new formulas. Just because the opponent doesn’t match-up to previous competition doesn’t mean the Bulldogs can’t get better.
Respect: The fact 22 games remain in the regular season. At 4-5, Gonzaga’s season isn’t over. Just because we haven’t see a season like this in nearly two decades doesn’t mean futility. The combined record of the five teams to defeat the Zags this season is 45-4. Seriously. We’re spoiled by previous years where the Bulldogs would have pulled off at least one victory against such opponents. As it stands right now, GU still has two Top-25 teams remaining on the schedule (No. 9 Baylor, No. 18 Memphis).
Random Stuff: This is the first time the Bulldogs play the Warriors since November 11, 2004 (exhibition). The last time Gonzaga lost three straight was the 2008-2009 season (UConn, Portland State and Utah).
