SPOKANE—A restaurant critic is giving restaurant employees a chance to unwind and see the other side of dining.
Kevin Finch knows the food industry is one full of stress and isolation. Workers have to deal with long hours and most don’t receive any benefits from their employer.
That’s precisely why he has set up what’s called “A Big Table Dinner.”
Restaurant workers from around Spokane are invited to the Purple Turtle for a free, gourmet dinner where they can sit back, relax and enjoy a good time.
The guests are invited through suggestions by their peers. The food is donated, volunteer chefs cook the meals and the servers are everyday citizens.
The Big Table’s care stretches beyond just a nice dinner, as guests identify people they know who are struggling and the Big Table tries to help them out as best they can.
