DOD confirms Lewiston man killed while serving in Afghanistan

LEWISTON, Idaho—The Department of Defense announced the death of Army Spc. Ethan J. Martin, 22, of Lewiston, Idaho on Thursday.

Martin died August 7 of wounds suffered when he encountered enemy small-arms fire.

He was assigned to the 1st Squadron 40th Calvary Regiment at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska.

Martin’s family released a statement saying he was a very loving young man who enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

Martin graduated in 2009 from Lewiston High School. His family said he planned to go to nursing school after his time in the Army.

Martin leaves behind many friends in Bonners Ferry.  He is survived by his mother and father as well as his sister, 4 stepsisters and 3 stepbrothers.
