SPOKANE -- Thursday is the last day of our KREM Cares: Help 2 Haiti fundraiser, and we want to give a big thank you to everyone who was able to donate.
All of the money raised since Friday, January 15th is going to the American Red Cross to be spent on the Haiti relief effort.
Now, it's not over until the end of the day, but as of Thursday morning we're told the Help 2 Haiti drive brought in around $40,000 to the Red Cross. Right now, Rosauers is still excepting donations for the KREM Cares drive as well as Weldon Barber shops around town. We'll have their totals later.
So far, the Red Cross has received more than $178,000 in donations, locally. Nationally, more than $171 million has been donated, $29 million of that came from the text "HAITI" to 90999 effort. Each one of the texts received was a ten dollar donation.
Again, a big thank you to everyone who helped out with our Help 2 Haiti drive and we'll be sure to update you with a grand total of your generous efforts as soon as we learn the final totals.
