SPOKANE VALLEY-- A 10-year-old Spokane Valley boy was recovering from third-degree burns at Harborview Medical Center Thursday.

Two weeks ago, Riley Charvat was trying to make a makeshift camp-stove when it exploded and caught him on fire. He burned 30% of his body.

Riley was immediately Lifeflighted to Harborview Medical Center.

Doctors said Riley won’t be discharged from Harborview until mid to late October. He has undergone the first of several surgeries.

Close friend, Kristina Brandvold, is organizing a car wash to get donations and relief for Riley. Saturday, September 8th volunteers will be washing cars at Clean-A-Auto at 14309 East Trent Avenue in Spokane Valley starting at 8 a.m.

An account has been setup at Washington Trust Bank, “Relief for Riley”, to make a tax-deductible donation.
