SPOKANE-- During 2009, two families competed to become the most financially healthy as part of KREM 2’s Financial Health Challenge.
They were measured by a variety of factors including debt reduction and increased savings and Thursday the winner was picked.
There's the Frazier family led by Randi Frazier. Randi says they reduced debt and built a savings. Randi says the contest has taught them to live within their means. The Frazier family received counseling from Financial Fitness Coach Gayle Huber.
And there's the Skaer family led by Susan. Her financial fitness was greatly improved by taking on extra jobs and sticking to a tight budget. Her coach was Heather Webster.
Chuck Zeller with United Health Services Credit Union said it was a tough choice to pick the winner, but in the end the Skaer family won the $5,000 prize. The Frazier family didn’t walk away empty handed. They were given a surprise $1,000 for doing so well.
