COEUR D’ALENE-- Coeur d'Alene City Council altered an ordinance to allow new building along the shore of Lake Coeur d'Alene. The change is designed to help people in wheelchairs reach the lake easier.
Officials voted to change an ordinance that at one point didn’t allow construction within 40 feet of the shore line on city property. Now items like ramps can be built right into the water as long as the city approves it first.
Patrick Blum with the disability action center said his group has been working with the city for the ordinance changes.
City leaders said there are no plans set to make changes but they are willing to listen to any proposals.
