COEUR D’ALENE-- A Coeur d'Alene teenager was taken off life support one week ago. Darby Lopp, 14, was hospitalized for over a month with a brain injury.

Darby’s mom and dad told KREM 2 News Thursday, she was improving.

Darby fell off a moving mini-van and hit her head last month. Thursday she was in and out of consciousness in the hospital. She was also breathing on her own.

Doctors didn't expect Darby to live through the weekend, and Darby's dad Mark said there were some challenges. “Monday night she gave me a scare I thought she died three times Tuesday she was fine yesterday fine.”

Mark said his daughter responded to some voice commands and can give thumbs up as a yes.

The teen's hair is also growing.

Mark said he's waiting to say she's completely out of the woods. The chances are slim of the teen making full recovery.
