SAINT MARIES, Idaho- A write in candidate for Benewah County Sheriff said he is running in honor of his teenage daughter.

Jim Comack said he wants to be the Benewah County Sheriff to root out illegal drugs there.

Comack said his teenage daughter Stefanie was shot and killed last Christmas and that is why he decided to run.
“You can’t explain it,” Comack said, “I can’t bring her back but maybe I can stop it from happening again.”

Stefanie's death was the third tragedy in Jim's close family. His dad and cousin were also killed.

Comack said he is willing to use half of his own salary to try to reduce crime. He said he would use his pay to create a reward system for those turning in drug dealers and some violent criminals.
