SPOKANE, Wash. -- Heavy rain is back in the forecast. Cool and wet weather will persist all day Tuesday and part of Wednesday.
If you will remember, the 2016-2017 water year was record setting. That year saw the most water recorded during a water year in two decades (October '16-April '17: 21.09".)
Now, we are adding to the wet 2017 rainfall totals. So far, May has seen 0.62," which is actually right about where the total should be. However, Tuesday's new rain will likely bump the region above the May average to date of 0.69".
Rainfall totals expected for Tuesday are between 0.50"-1.50" across the Inland Northwest in valley locations.
Also, watch for tricky mountain travel weather! Between 3 and 6 inches of new snow are expected throughout the day Tuesday, overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday morning.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect which includes: Mount Baker, Stevens Pass, Snoqualmie Pass, White Pass, & Lookout Pass.
