UPDATE:

In the wake of Malachi Flynn's transfer, COUGFAN.com released an article saying Flynn should be ashamed with his decision. KREM2's Evan Closky responds to that article explaining why blame and frustration are two totally different feelings. Let's talk about Ernie Kent first:

March 27 - Flynn decides to transfer

For the second time in two days the Washington State basketball team suffered a huge loss.

Second-leading scorer Malachi Flynn announced on Twitter that he will transfer from the program.

The news comes a day after top scorer Robert Franks announced his decision to declare for the NBA Draft. Franks has not hired an agent, but does intend to sign with one and begin his professional career.

Flynn just completed his sophomore season. WSU head coach Ernie Kent spoke highly of Flynn when he signed, and hoped the Bellarmine Prep grad could help elevate the Cougs. He started as a freshman and averaged 15.8 points and 4.3 assists as a sophomore.

Flynn will have two years of eligibility remaining. Per NCAA transfer rules he will have to sit out a season before taking the floor for another program.

The departures punctuate the struggles WSU has had since the departure of Tony Bennett. Ernie Kent just wrapped up his fourth season since taking over for Ken Bone. The Cougars went 12-19 and have not won more than 13 games since the 2011-2012 season.
