SPOKANE, Wash. --- Spokane police officers arrested Gonzaga redshirt sophomore point guard Josh Perkins early Sunday morning at Ruby and Sharp.
According to police, somebody called in a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood. Police went to check out the area and found Perkins in his car. Perkins was found to be intoxicated.
Perkins, 21, appeared in court on Oct. 11. He faces a gross misdemeanor charge for “physical control of a vehicle under the influence,” according to court documents.
The case file references a blood alcohol level for Josh Perkins.
Gonzaga Athletics issued a statement, confirming the arrest.
“We take this situation very seriously and we will give Josh the support he needs to help him learn from this,” Mark Few, the GU head coach, said in a statement. “He understands the serious nature of the charge and has made a commitment to the process within the University.”
Court records show he was in a 1998 Mercedes-Benz at the time of his arrest, 4:00 a.m. on Sunday.
Perkins was released on his own recognizance - which means he did not have to post bail. He is scheduled to be back in court on Nov. 11.
