SPOKANE, Wash. -- The U.S. District Court in Eastern Washington is warning people about a jury duty scam phone call around Washington State.
The scammer makes phone calls, threatening to arrest someone for not complying with jury service in federal court. That person then demands payment to avoid arrest.
The calls are not from the U.S. District Court or any other official. Federal courts do not require payment fees to avoid prosecution or arrest. They typically sent prospective jurors information through the mail. Any phone call will not ask for sensitive information.
