SPOKANE, Wash.— The popular kid’s clothing store Gymboree announced they will be closing five stores in Washington state including the one in River Park Square.

Gymboree is not the only major retailer that announced closing stores across the county in 2017. It is joined by Macy’s, Payless, J.C. Penney and more.

Despite what seems like a high number of retail stores closing, a representative for River Park Square said they are not worried.

River Park Square General Manager, Bryn West, said the mall has not seen too many store closures. West said there is a reason for that.

“We’re picky with the stores we have here,” said West.

West said she is confident the space Gymboree is leaving will be filled with a great new store.

“We’re sad to see the Gymboree news,” said West.

Gymboree is closing two Seattle locations, a Olympia location and a Union Gap location.
