COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho --- Volunteers at Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort helped stuff backpacks full of supplies for students in need on Tuesday.

The resort, Walmart, and KREM 2 have teamed up to make sure all kids have the supplies they need when they walk through those doors on the first day.

Thanks to your donations, there were hundreds of items donated and thousands of school kids will be prepared for school with the supplies they need.

“It gets them excited about school and gets them prepared,” explained Nicole Thien, a volunteer.

Several different partners will handle distributions. In North Idaho, the KROC Center will handle passing out the packs to schools in need. In Eastern Washington, Communities in Schools will hand them out in the Spokane area.

“Growing up, it was always so fun to get,” said Margaret Sijohn, a Tribal Council Member and volunteer for Tools 2 Schools. “It allows the kids to find their happiness and what they really want to do.”

Tools 2 Schools backpacks will be distributed to area schools that have a high rate of free and reduced lunch.
