ATLANTA -- The path to marriage is getting more and more elaborate, at least on social media. Grooms make proposals they hope will go viral and weddings have their own hash tags on social media, but last weekend, a low tech, meaningful bachelor and bachelorette party happened in Atlanta.

A wedding party of nine people, including the bride and groom to be, were in Atlanta to have their bachelor and bachelorette parties. As part of their weekend, they volunteered at the non profit A.G. Rhodes Home in Grant Park and spent time with the nursing home residents.

The bride, Oni Burrell chose A.G. Rhodes. She cared for her aging grandmother when she was in college and says she has a heart for the elderly. Burrell’s wedding party danced and played bingo and word scrabble with residents.

Burrell says they chose to volunteer for part of their weekend because “it's important to show you care.” Burrell is from Texas and her groom is from Louisiana. Members of the wedding party flew in from around the country and chose Atlanta as a central spot to gather and celebrate the wedding which will be in march.

A weekend of fun..and giving back.
