The man accused of kidnapping and murdering a Cheney pot shop employee in October will have to undergo a competency evaluation.

Donovan Culps is suspected of killing Cameron Smith, a pot shop employee at Lucid in Cheney. Court records show the court found reason to doubt the competency of Donovan Culps.

He now has to have a mental health evaluation to determine whether he is fit to stand trial. Culps will be committed to either Eastern State Hospital or another similar facility for up to 15 days to be evaluated.

After his arrest for the murder of Cameron Smith, the FBI confirmed they were looking into the possibility he committed another unrelated murder.
