PULLMAN, Wash. – A Washington State University student who fell off of a deck at an apartment building has been upgraded from critical to serious condition, hospital officials said Tuesday.

Nathan Hopkins, 18, of Davenport, was flown to Sacred Heart in Spokane for a head injury after falling 11 feet on Friday night. Pullman Police said Hopkins was unconscious when they arrived at the apartment building near Monroe Street and Northeast Michigan Street.

Witnesses told police Hopkins had been drinking prior to his fall.

This is the third accidental fall that investigators have seen this school semester. Fall semester began in August.
