PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University’s hometown of Pullman has made the list of the top 30 safest college towns in America.

Pullman ranked number eight.

The report was published by SafeWise Wednesday. The company said their security team analyzed the most recent FBI crime statistics and looked at safety-oriented programs in college cities throughout the nation to determine the results.

The report cites a survey by Wearsafe Labs which said 70 percent of parents feel that campus safety is critical when choosing a school.

SafeWise writes that Pullman is repeatedly recognized as one of Washington’s safest cities. According to the WSU website, the academic 2015-2016 year had more than 9,500 WSU students participate in community outreach resulting in more than 87,000 hours of civic service.
