SPOKANE, Wash.-Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers offered her support to the Freeman community Thursday morning.

“It’s heartbreaking, and now we’ve had an incident in our own community,” said McMorris Rodgers.
Rep. McMorris Rodgers said that school violence like this is an all-round issue and should be looked at by all angles.
“We need to be discussing the mental health issues. We need to see what we can do more on prevention and education and providing the counseling when its needed,” said McMorris Rodgers.
She said she was working to connect those affected at by the events at Freeman High School to others who had been involved in similar situations.
“I know it shook all of us and I’m so grateful for the first responders and medical team and school officials,” said Rep. McMorris Rodgers.
She said the community should continue to learn and identify what can be done to prevent school shootings, but the focus right now should be on supporting the Freeman community.
