SPOKANE, Wash. --- Spokane police officers in an unmarked car stopped a possible drive-by shooting on Thursday afternoon.

The officers were parked outside of Union Gospel Mission on Trent when they saw a car drive by with what appeared to be an assault rifle pointed out the window, SPD said.

SPD said they pursued the driver up to the Riverpoint campus off Spokane Falls Boulevard. Officers said they were able to do a pit maneuver and he got out of the car and ran away.

He was captured and arrested about a half a block away, SPD said. No one was hurt in the incident, and the road was clear as of 4 p.m.
