SPOKANE, Wash --- If you are an owner of a 1990's and/or earlier model Subaru, Honda, or Toyota, you are eligible for a free club from the Spokane Police Department.

Spokane Police posted on Facebook saying car thefts have spiked on several models.

As well as offering the free club, they also gave a few tips on how to deter thieves:

  1. Do not leave belongings in your vehicle
  2. Park in a well-lit or high traffic area
  3. Lock your vehicle doors when unattended

You can contact your local precinct for more information to receive a free club. A club is an automotive steering-wheel lock.

The Spokane Police Department did not return calls immediately for comment asking why these three types of cars are more targeted than others.
