SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane City leaders said the weather has helped them to more pothole repairs this year.

So far in 2018, Public Works Director Marlene Feist said the city has filled more than 2,000 potholes. At this time in 2017, they had filled 2,108.

“We’ve actually done an amazing amount of pothole repair already this year. The weather didn’t provide a constant pounding of snow, rain, ice so we were able to get out frequently and get working on potholes and get a head-start on sweeping,” Feist explained.

Feist said it has also helped that the city has added two pothole trailers to along with the two pothole trucks they already have. She said it gave them a better ability to do more quality repairs. Both the pothole trailers and trucks allow crews to heat up cold mix that’s available in the winter.

Fiest added that they have been able to work on potholes a little at a time over this winter rather than having a big rush in early March to deal with significant damage.
