SPOKANE, Wash. --- The Spokane Police Department is warning people of a man who allegedly offered a middle school girl a ride as she was walking to the school bus stop Friday morning.

Police said in a release the suspect had the driver’s window down and asked her if she wanted a ride at least four times, before opening the driver side door and demanding the victim “Get in the damn car!”

SPD said the victim kept walking, got out her cell phone and the suspect drove away.

The incident happened at about 8:15 on Friday morning in the area of 2800 W. 7th Ave.

The suspect is described as a white male, late 30s to mid-40s, about 5’” to 5’ 8” with short and grey receding hair. SPD said he did not have facial hair, glasses or piercings. He was wearing a grey shirt under a black hoodie with light denim jeans and a watch on his left wrist, according to SPD. The victim said his clothing was “old or dirty.”

Police said the suspect’s car was an older, boxy and dirty 4-door sedan. They said it was black, with a scratch on the left front near the driver’s door, and had a tan or grey interior. SPD said it did not have any stickers, tint or loud exhaust.

Officers checked the area, SPD said in a release, but were not able to find the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
