SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash.—Santa made an early stop to Spokane Valley, but his sleigh looked a little different and didn't have the reindeer.
Waste management driver Chris Hellman dresses as Santa during the holidays to deliver a little Christmas cheer.
"If you could see the reaction from the kids, even the parents, and the people driving by. Everybody smiles, waves,” said Hellman.
Hellman said he drives the same route every day so he got to know many of the kids who live along the way.
Hellman said he looks out for one of his favorite children along the route, a four-year-old girl who would always jump to her window and wave. He said if he would make a stop there the girl would jump out and give him a big hug.
Hellman said it was sad to not see her this year because she is seeking medical treatment in Seattle.
"She's just got a smile that doesn't stop,” said Hellman.
Hellman said people are usually shocked to see Santa so far away from the North Pole.
