SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane Police said they arrested a domestic violence suspect who shot at the victim, led police on a brief chase, then fled on foot Friday morning.

Montreal Morgan, 20, was taken into custody near Hogan and Desmet. He was booked into the Spokane County Jail for first degree assault-domestic violence, felony violation of a domestic violence order of protection, attempt to elude police and second degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

Authorities were called to the area of Bridgeport and Division around 2:30 a.m. on a report from a woman who said her ex-boyfriend, Morgan, had just shot at her. Morgan had also intentionally rammed the victim’s vehicle with his vehicle, according to police. Officers arrived on scene and attempted to stop Morgan, but he fled the scene in his car. According to officials, Morgan fled on foot after a brief vehicle pursuit.

Officers found Morgan near Hogan and Desmet just after 5:00 a.m. and took him into custody. A firearm was located in the vehicle he had been driving, according to authorities.

Police said the victim was not injured during this incident. Officials said there was a domestic violence order of protection in place prohibiting Morgan from having any contact with the victim which also prohibited him from possessing a firearm. He will appear in court at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
