Historic Davenport hosts memorial for doorman John Reed

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Historic Davenport Hotel will be hosting a public memorial Thursday for their beloved doorman John Reed, who passed away on April 9.

Reed first started at the hotel in 1942 as a busboy working for 35 cents an hour. He most recently worked as the head doorman four days a week. He has since become a staple in Spokane.

The memorial will be held in the hotel’s Grand Pennington Ballroom from noon to 2:00 p.m. It is open to the public.
