SPOKANE, Wash. – A father and daughter were rescued from the Spokane River Sunday afternoon near Bowl and Pitcher.

Spokane fire officials said the two got stranded on the rocks in the Devil's Toenail area of the Spokane River after the inner tubes they were on tipped over in the rapids.

The Spokane Fire Department's water rescue team responded around 2:00 p.m. to an area just south of the Rifle Club entrance to Aubrey White Parkway. Officials said they were able to reach the father and daughter with kayaks and moved them from the rocks in the river to the shore.

Authorities said they were cold from the long exposure to the cold water. They were warmed up by medical personnel on scene but neither went to the hospital.
