SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane’s newest attraction is set to open December 8. The new ice ribbon is the first of its kind on the West Coast and only one of 12 in the United States. Instead of a circular rink the city of Spokane opted for a ribbon-shaped rink. It will be 16 feet wide and 700 feet long. There is quite a buzz about downtown Spokane’s new addition, “I can’t wait for it to open, I have my own skates and I am ready to go,” Craig Swanby said. He was just one of many people checking out the progress of the ice ribbon. Work crews continued to work on building up the layers of ice for the rink and organizers say the ice ribbon is on track to open on December 8.
