SPOKANE, Wash.— A local family got the Christmas they did not think they’d be able to have thanks to Spokane Community College.

Kandra Warren said her and her family lost everything in a fire and were not sure if they would be able to celebrate Christmas this year.

Warren said her and her family for all smiles.

"I feel a little overwhelmed. I didn't know how I was going to buy the kids anything, so this was really nice," said Warren.

Criminal justice students and faculty at SCC raised money throughout the year to give a family in need the Christmas they deserve.

This year the group of students and faculty raised $600.
