COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – The Coeur d’Alene Police department is looking for someone who is using a blowgun type weapon to shoot animals.

On June 3, Coeur d’Alene Police Animal Control Officers received a report of an animal owner who noticed their cat had a metal rod protruding from its body.

The owner said they immediately took the cat to the veterinarian and a metal dart with a broad tip was removed. The veterinarian said the dart missed all of the cat’s vital organs and the cat is expected to recover. This incident happened in the 1200 block of North 10th Street.

In May of 2016, Coeur d’Alene Police had a similar incident in which another cat was shot with a metal dart from a blowgun. That incident occurred near 8th Street and East Birch Avenue.

There is no suspect information at this time for either incident. Anyone who knows of someone possibly using this type of weapon to injure animals is urged to contact the police department at (208)-292-5784.
