PEND-OREILLE CO, Wash. --- A Spokane man riding his ATV near Metaline Falls died after he apparently lost control on a curve and went over an embankment.
The Pend Oreille County Sheriff's Office said Scott A. Smecko, 51, of Spokane had been riding his ATV with a group, but somehow became separated from them. He did not make it to their pre-determined check point, officials said in a release, and when his friends went to look for him, they found that he had crashed.
Smecko was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials. They said the details of the collision on Lehigh Hill are still under investigation.
