Lockdowns lifted at Omak schools, authorities say threat not credible

School district officials said the investigation revealed there was no evidence of a credible threat.

OMAK, Wash.—The lockdowns at both Omak High School and Omak Middle School were lifted Wednesday afternoon.

School district officials said the investigation revealed there was no evidence of a credible threat.

The regular schedule for both schools will now continue. Police will remain on scene for the rest of the day. Parents may pick up their students if they choose, following normal release procedures, accoridng to school district officials.

Omak High school was placed on lockdown and the middle school was placed on a soft lockdown Wednesday morning after a threatening note was discovered.

Omak School District communications officer, Sheila Corson said a threatening note was found in a bathroom at the high school.

Corson said law enforcement was called and arrived to the school immediately.

Law enforcement was searching the school for danger and also reviewing video to try and identify who was in the restroom at the time the note was found.

Corson said updates would be given on the school district’s Facebook page.
