OLYMPIA – Washington State will get some financial relief to deal with the effects of winter and early spring.

The Trump administration approved Governor Jay Inslee’s request for a major disaster declaration. It stems from the heavy snow and flooding.

The approval makes federal funds available to Adams, Benton, Columbia, Franklin, Grant, Lewis, Lincoln, Pend Oreille, Skamania, Spokane, Wahkiakum, Walla Walla and Whatcom counties to help pay for repairs. Officials said preliminary damages across the state total to more than $27 million.
