MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. – The Medical Lake High School community participated in a prayer vigil for four of its own after a two-vehicle crash near Airway Heights on Saturday.

Officials said female passenger Journey Tueller, 17, from Reardan, Washington, died at the scene of the crash at Highway 2 and Wood Road, six miles west of Airway Heights.

Three other teens in the vehicle were transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center with serious injuries. They are 14-year-old Savannah S. Sutton, 15-year-old Laci R. Sica and and 17-year-old Lauren H. Gross, officials said.

The Medical Lake students were on their way to catch a track team bus traveling to a meet in Cheney when the crash occurred.

Students at the vigil, which took place on the high school's track where the girls practiced, tossed balloons into the air in remembrance of Tueller and for those beginning their journey to recovery.

The Medical Lake HS community said long recoveries are expected for the survivors and prayers are "much-needed."
