HAYDEN, Idaho – A Hayden man has been booked into the Kootenai County jail for second degree murder, and a second person is being held in federal custody on charges related to the homicide.

On Oct. 28, law enforcement officials from the North Idaho Violent Crimes Task Force and the US Marshall’s Service and the Pacific Northwest Violent Offenders Task Force were able to track down and arrest David E. Hutto, 44. Hutto was arrested off of Appleway Avenue in Coeur d’Alene. He was booked into the Kootenai County Jail on second degree murder charges.

Hours before Hutto’s arrest, deputies arrested a second person in connection with Kirk’s death. Detectives have not released arrest details or the name of the second suspect.

On Friday, detectives served a search warrant in Hayden, Idaho where Hutto was living. Detectives said it took them hours to process and collect evidence.

Detectives are still trying to contact a possible witness who went shooting in the Hayden Creek area on Oct. 22 around 7-8 p.m. The person was reportedly driving a red car. They are asked to contact the detective division of the Sheriff’s Office at (208)-446-1300.
