POST FALLS, Idaho – Two suspects arrested for getting into a fight Friday that injured a ten-year-old child made their first appearance in Kootenai County court on Monday.

According to reports, Jared Allen, 21, and Matthew McCoy, 31, went to the victim’s residence Friday, demanded money, and started a fight. According to reports, an adult victim and a ten-year-old girl were injured during the fight and later treated at Kootenai Health.

Allen and McCoy left the scene but police eventually found Allen attempting to break into another residence nearby. Police later found McCoy in Hayden where he was taken into custody by the county SWAT team after he refused to surrender.

Both suspects face multiple felony charges including robbery, battery, burglary, and injury to a child. In their first appearance Monday afternoon, the judge issued a no contact order to protect the victims which will remain in effect for a full year.

Allen’s bond is set at $150,000. McCoy’s bond is set at $250,000 because the judge noted his lengthy criminal history. McCoy has been booked at the Kootenai County Public Safety Building 23 times. McCoy’s criminal history dates back to 2002. Most of his charges deal with possession or use of drugs. The rest of his criminal history includes speeding tickets and driving without a license or proof of insurance. At the age of 16, McCoy was arrested for being a minor in possession of alcohol or tobacco. McCoy’s new felony charges of robbery, battery, burglary, and injury to a child will be his first violent offenses.
