POST FALLS, Idaho – The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office said it arrested two robbery suspects Friday evening. According to officials, Kootenai County Sheriff’s deputies responded Friday just before 10:30 p.m. to the 1900 block of East 12th Avenue near Post Falls for reports of a fight that had just been broken up.
During the investigation it was reported that Jared R. Allen, 21, and Matthew J. McCoy, 31, had entered the victim’s residence without permission and demanded money. During the altercation, a fight broke out, according to officials. During the fight, an adult victim and a 10 year old victim were injured. Neighbors reportedly heard the altercation and broke up the fight before the suspects fled the scene. The victims reportedly suffered significant injuries and were treated at Kootenai Health.
Later, Post Falls Police responded to a report of an unknown male attempting to enter another residence near the original crime scene. Post Falls Police Officers responded, detained the male, and identified him as Jared R. Allen. Deputies responded and took Allen into custody for attempted robbery, burglary, battery with intent to commit a serious felony, and injury to a child.
Matthew J. McCoy was tracked to a residence in the 9300 block of North Baack Street in Hayden. Deputies surrounded the home and ordered McCoy to surrender. After McCoy failed to surrender, the Kootenai County Joint Agency SWAT team was called in. Shortly after that, McCoy was taken into custody by the SWAT team. Deputies arrested McCoy for attempted robbery, burglary, battery with intent to commit a serious felony, and injury to a child.
McCoy has been previously booked into the Kootenai County Public Safety Building 23 times. This is the first time Allen will be booked into KCPSB.
