Julyamsh finds new home at Kootenai Fairgrounds

Tribal leaders said they broke their relationship with the park as legal and political issues come up over “racino” gaming machines.

WORLEY, Idaho – Julyamsh has found a new home at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds.

Julyamsh was last held in 2014. It began about 20 years ago at Greyhound Park in Post Falls. Tribal leaders said they broke of their relationship with the park as legal and political issues come up over “racino” gaming machines.
The event will take place July 22-24 and is open to the public.

Coeur d’Alene Tribe leaders said after two years of discussions the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Council approved the proposal to move the largest outdoor powwow in the Pacific Northwest to the fairgrounds. Tribal members from all over the country come to watch the event as well as locals and tourists.

Tribal leaders said as many as 800 dancers and 60 drum groups have taken part and scores of vendors also show up for the event.
