COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - One person is dead and two others are hurt after a crash at the top of Mica Grade south of Coeur d'Alene on U.S. 95 on Wednesday, according to Idaho State Police.

ISP officials said two vehicles were involved in the crash.

Troopers said that Michael D. Pitts, 58, of Coeur d'Alene was driving northbound on US 95 in a blue pickup truck when he lost control while going around a curve and struck a car traveling southbound head on.

Pitts died at the scene, ISP officials said. The other driver and their passenger were treated and released at the scene.

Traffic was diverted for several hours, but the roads did reopen shortly after 7:30 p.m.
