Freight train derails near Steel Bridge; no injuries reported

PORTLAND, Ore. — Six cars on a freight train derailed in North Portland near the Moda Center on Sunday afternoon.

There were no injuries and no hazardous materials leaked from the train, according to Portland Fire and Rescue. They said they will complete their assessment Sunday evening and hand it over to the rail company.

The derailment happened at North Interstate Avenue and North Thunderbird Way near the Steel Bridge and the Moda Center.
