Seahawks player to visit Sandpoint school on Thursday

SPOKANE, Wash. – Kootenai Elementary School will host a visit from a sports superstar on Thursday.

Seattle Seahawks offensive tackle George Fant is hosting an assembly at the school, alongside dairy farmers, health and wellness educational performers, and staff from Dairy West.

Kootenai Elementary School was awarded an NFL player visit as a result of their outstanding participation in the national Fuel Up to Play 60 program, one of many efforts supported by

Idaho dairy farm families to promote youth health and wellness, according to the school.

The school has earned $8,748 in Fuel Up to Play 60 grants since it started participating in 2013.

Dairy West and the Idaho Dairy Council support schools throughout the Gem State. In its most recent round of Fuel Up to Play 60 funding, the Idaho Dairy Council awarded grants to 24 Idaho schools totaling $80,678. Hundreds of schools nationwide applied for funding to help them jumpstart and sustain healthy nutrition and physical activity improvements.
