BONNER COUNTY, Idaho – Officials are warning Lake Pend Oreille boaters about a breach in a drift yard facility which allowed logs and debris to enter the lake.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said they gather most debris from the Clark Fork before it enters the lake and stored it in the Clark Fork Drift Facility until it can be disposed.

Officials said a piece of the log boom, a barrier of logs chained together to contain debris, failed possibly allowing logs and smaller debris to enter the upper lake.

Until the breach is fixed, the Corps is asking boaters and the public to use caution and to be alert for logs and debris.
