Police: Search continues for missing 4-year-old from Yakima

Lucian, 4, was last seen around 7:15 p.m. Saturday near the play area at Sarg Hubbard Park. He has black hair and brown eyes, weighs 40 pounds, and is 4' feet tall.

YAKIMA, Wash. — The Yakima Police Department (YPD) is asking for the public to be on the lookout for a 4-year-old boy who went missing Saturday.

Four-year-old Lucian was last seen around 7:15 p.m. near the play area at Sarg Hubbard Park, according to the Yakima Police Department.

Lucian was reportedly last wearing blue shorts and a blue shirt with a shark on it. According to the Washington State Patrol, the boy walked away from his parents and was last seen heading southeast from the park's parking lot.

Yakima police said drones and search dogs have been deployed as part of the search effort. The Spokane County Sheriff's Department has also deployed a helicopter to aid in the search.

A statewide alert has been issued related to his disappearance. The alert informs communities and law enforcement agencies statewide about Lucian. Yakima police said the boy's disappearance did not meet the requirements for an Amber Alert.

According to authorities, they do not suspect foul play because they were able to determine Lucian left Sarg Hubbard Park alone and headed southeast. In a press release, YPD said there is a fast-flowing river, pond and deep lake in that direction. They said underwater drones and divers checked those bodies of water and did not find anything.

The Yakima Police Department worked with trained search crews from Pierce, King, Spokane, Kittitas and Klickitat Counties during the search. They also have support from Moses Lake and Gleed Fire Departments and the U.S. Air Force.

According to the press release, YPD said they will be scaling back resources from around the state and the Yakima County Search and Rescue Team. They said this was is a standard protocol for searches in an urban area.

In the press release, YPD asked the public to continue to look for Lucian and to call 911 with any information.

A candlelight vigil is being held at Martin Luther King Park at 7 p.m. Sunday to pray for Lucian's safe return.
