SPOKANE, Wash --- Last minute eclipse watchers are scrambling to find eclipse glasses or anything that lets them watch the eclipse, and most places are sold out.
KREM 2 searched around town looking for any places that still have eclipse glasses for sale.
KREM called several local hardware stores including Lowe's, ACE Hardware and the General Store to see if they had restocked their welding glasses. They are all still out of the glasses.
A good alternative to eclipse glasses are some welding glasses. This idea seems to have caught on by the looks of the empty shelf of welding glasses at the General Store.
Store workers said they have received hundreds of calls this last week from people looking for protective eyewear. They said they have had the same answer for about a week now, they are out of glasses.
Silverwood looks like the only place that still has glasses and they are only giving them to people who attend their eclipse watch party on Monday.
Another alternative, if you did not get the eclipse glasses or the right shade of welding glasses, is to watch the eclipse on television.
Fortunately, KREM 2 has the eclipse covered tomorrow, KREM will be live at a few different locations during the solar eclipse. We will bring it to you live for the duration of the solar eclipse, from nine to eleven a.m.
Remember NASA said only the shade 14 welding glasses/helmets are safe for eclipse viewing, anything lower than that can be harmful to your eyes.
