SPOKANE, Wash --- A drive-by shooter was arrested on Tuesday after two separate shooting incidents in Spokane.
Around 2:30 p.m., a Spokane City Street Department employee reported a drive-by shooting he witnessed near Sinto Avenue and Napa Street. The employee provided police with a vehicle and suspect description.
Officers were not able to locate the vehicle at the scene of the shooting, according to SPD.
Nobody was injured from the gunfire and police could not find any damaged structures either.
Around 30 minutes after the initial incident, a person at 3rd Avenue and Freya Street reported a subject fired a gun from a vehicle. The person provided a picture of the vehicle including a clear picture of the license plate. Both incidents appeared to involve the same vehicle, said the SPD.
Officer Willard located the truck driving in the area of 11th Avenue and Ray Street. The driver of the vehicle initially tried to flee, but was pulled over and the driver was taken into custody.
The truck was seized and will be held while officers obtain a search warrant to look for firearms, said the SPD. According to court documents, police found a black Rossi .38 caliber revolver, several spent .38 caliber rounds as well as Smith and Wesson M&P .40 caliber semi-auto handgun, Ruger Mini 14 .223 caliber rifle, Versailles AK-47 7.62 x 39 caliber. Officers also found roughly 4,000 live rounds to various firearms.
Benjamin Rowbotham was arrested for two counts of Drive-by shooting and booked into Spokane County Jail.
