SPOKANE, Wash. – Opening statements in the Jason Obermiller trial are expected to begin Wednesday.

Obermiller is charged with second degree murder in the death of 2-year-old Addy Hoyt.

Obermiller, 32, is accused of killing Hoyt at a home on Spokane’s South Hill in September of 2016. Obermiller was taken into custody at a lake cabin near Worley, Idaho after several days on the run. Deputies were responding to reports of a suspicious person at the home.

Obermiller faces several charges in Washington, including second degree murder. He also faces charges for being a fugitive on the run in Idaho.
