Brewster man shot mother before fatally shooting himself

Officials said dispatch reported that a female had been shot as deputies were responding to the scene.

BREWSTER, Wash. – Officers responded to a call regarding a 19-year-old male with a gun in at 502 North Star Road in Brewster on Saturday morning.

Officials said dispatch reported that a female had been shot as deputies were responding to the scene.

When Okanogan County Sherriff’s Office deputies and Brewster Police arrived at the scene, they learned the female victim left the residence and the suspect was still inside. When they entered the residence, they found the suspect with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, officials said.

Deputies investigated the scene once the residence was clear and concluded that Mike Aguirre-Bobadilla, 19, of Brewster had been at the residence with his 41-year-old mother Ernestina Aguirre-Bobadilla and his 10-year-old sister. Mike was acting strangely before he retrieved a gun from the residence.

Mike then shot his mother, striking her near the mouth. She and her daughter ran to a neighbor's house for help.

Mike was transported to Three Rivers Hospital, where he died from his wounds, officials said.

Ernestina was airlifted to Sacred Heart in Spokane, officials said. Her condition is unknown. Her daughter witnessed the shooting but is uninjured.

The case remains under investigation.
